Sound Engineering and Musical Acoustics
Politecnico di Milano offers now an innovative MS track in Sound Engineering and Musical Acoustic. Sound Engineering and Musical Acoustics is not an independent Master of Science Program, but it consists of two tracks available in the MS programs of Computer System Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering that have been jointly designed to offer to students the opportunity of a sheer breadth program.

The mandatory courses include:
- Digital signal processing
- Multimedia signal processing
- Sound analysis, synthesis and processing
- Computer music
- Musical acoustics
- Room acoustics
- Fundamentals of vibration analysis and vibroacoustics of musical instruments
The optional courses can be chosen from the courses groups of Communication Methodologies, Communication Technologies, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electronics and Physics.
Students holding at least a BSc degree in a related field and 15 years of education are eligible for application. A solid background in the fundamentals of engineering is requested, i.e. in Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications disciplines, Computer Science, Electronics.

An admission committee of the study program in Telecommunication Engineering evaluates all the admission requests and take final decisions based on the curriculum of each candidate and the documents provided in the application. Admission to the program does not imply the validation of credits that the students have earned in their former career. The obligations to be satisfied by the candidates in order to get the MSc Degree are determined on an individual basis by the Committee based on the number and type of credits earned in the student’s former career.
The education program will provide the graduates a deep knowledge of engineering methodologies and technologies, and skills in planning, managing, and evaluating complex projects including their economical aspects.The main professional areas targeted are innovation and development of networking technologies and distributed applications, advanced design, and management of complex systems.Graduates will find their jobs, either as independent professionals or as members of enterprises and public administrations, in the areas of hardware or software production in the networking industry, communication and computing service providers, information systems, and public administration.
